EXPLANATION ABOUT JIHAD

Verses about JIHAD:
190. And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors. [This Verse is the first one that was revealed in connection with Jihad, but it was supplemented by another (V.9:36)].

191. And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-al-Haram (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

192. But if they cease, then (let them free because) Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

193. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah) and (all and every kind of) worship is for Allah (Alone). But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the cruel polytheists and wrong-doers) (QS 2:190-193)

The verses about Jihad were sent after the followers of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were killed and tortured (burnt alive, lashed, boycotted, expelled, etc.) for years by Arabic pagans. We don't do jihad again because of these orders:
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "Anyone who hurts a "kafir 'adhi" (kind and polite infidel) or reduces his/her right or burdens him/her with a burden beyond his/her ability or steals something from him/her with bad intention, then I will be his/her defender in the Final Day” (Hadith Abu Daud)

“But if they cease, then (let them free because) Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (QS 2:192)

“Those who have been expelled from their homes unjustly only because they said: "Our Lord is Allah." - For had it not been that Allah checks one set of people by means of another, (all) monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, wherein the Name of Allah is mentioned much would surely have been pulled down. Verily, Allah will help those who help His (Cause). Truly, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty. (QS 22:40)

“Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity. (QS 60:8)
